Brussels South Charleroi Airport: +17% traffic in April

Postby sn26567 on 12 May 2012, 10:49

Brussels South Charleroi Airport registered a total of 591,930 passengers in April. This represents an increase of 17% compared to the 504,030 passengers registered in the same month last year.

The increase is explained by the beginning of the summer season, which means the start of typical summer destinations and frequency increase on several existing routes, and also the launch of 10 new destinations such as Nice, Munich (Memmingen), Corfu and Rodez (France).

Compared to April 2011, the most successful destinations in terms of passenger growth are Thessaloniki, Lamezia (both operated by Ryanair) and Belgrade (Wizzair).

This passenger growth was principally registered during off-peak hours, therefore it fits perfectly into the airport’s strategy to focus on manageable growth, in accordance to the airport’s current operational constraints.

Managed growth for Brussels South Charleroi Airport in 2011

Postby sn26567 on 10 Jan 2012, 19:20

A 14% increase compared to 2010

Brussels South Charleroi Airport has closed 2011 with a total of 5,901,007 passengers; this is a 14% increase compared to 2010. Despite the hard times affecting the aviation sector in Europe for several months and a slight decrease of passengers in November, the airport reached its expected passengers amount for 2011. This traffic increase is in line with the strategy of Brussels South Charleroi Airport to focus on manageable growth, providing full quality of service to passengers.

16 new destinations were launched in 2011. These are: Athens, Alicante and Oran (Jetairfly); Belgrade (Wizz Air); and Manchester, Almeria, Biarritz, Genoa, Kos, Lamezia, Perugia, Pescara, Pula, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Volos (Ryanair).

6 new routes are already confirmed for the 2012 summer season: Jetairfly will operate flights to Palma, and Ryanair will fly to Alghero, Chania (Crete), Corfu, Memmingen and Rodez (France).
